MYTHbusters – Chapter 2

ย We’re excited to announce the finalization of the impactful training course “๐Œ๐ฒ๐ญ๐ก๐›๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ญ๐ž๐ซ๐ฌ ๐‚๐ก๐š๐ฉ๐ญ๐ž๐ซ ๐Ÿ”, which took place between โณ 23 April โ€“ 1 May 2025 in ๐Ÿ“Buศ™teni, Romania โ€”a continuation of our commitment to developing critical thinking and accurate information skills for youth work in Europe.
โœ…The training course brought together 27 youth workers and trainers from ๐Ÿ‡ท๐Ÿ‡ดRomania, ย ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡นItaly, ๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡ธSpain, ย ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ทGreece, ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฟCzech Republic, ๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ฑPoland, Latvia, and Serbia.

โœ…The program tackled the pressing issue of disinformation, especially in the digital age, focusing on how myths and stereotypes distort perception and perpetuate prejudice. Participants looked more into how fake news spreads, how myths are formed, and how youth workers can actively counteract them in their work.

โœ…By equipping youth workers with the tools to analyze, deconstruct, and challenge harmful narratives, the training course strengthened their ability to guide young people toward a more informed, open, and critical society.

โšก๏ธ ๐Œ๐š๐ข๐ง ๐จ๐›๐ฃ๐ž๐œ๐ญ๐ข๐ฏ๐ž๐ฌ ๐จ๐Ÿ ๐ญ๐ก๐ž ๐ญ๐ซ๐š๐ข๐ง๐ข๐ง๐  ๐œ๐จ๐ฎ๐ซ๐ฌ๐ž were to:
๐Ÿ“Œ Equip 29 youth workers from 9 European countries with critical thinking competences, focused on spotting and tackling myths, stereotypes, and fake news.
๐Ÿ“Œ Boost participant creativity in developing and applying non-formal educational methods that stimulate critical thinking in youth work.
๐Ÿ“Œ Enhance the capacity of partner organizations to act as multipliers in the field of disinformation and accurate information.

๐“๐ซ๐š๐ข๐ง๐ข๐ง๐  ๐ฆ๐ž๐ญ๐ก๐จ๐๐จ๐ฅ๐จ๐ ๐ฒ followed a 4-phase structure over the 7 days of activities:
๐Ÿ”ด Phase 1: Team building and setting the learning framework.
๐ŸŸ  Phase 2: Exploring fake news, digital disinformation, and myth creation.
๐ŸŸก Phase 3: Non-formal tool design.
๐ŸŸข Phase 4: Final evaluation and follow-up.

๐Ÿ”‘ ๐Œ๐š๐ข๐ง ๐ง๐จ๐ง-๐Ÿ๐จ๐ซ๐ฆ๐š๐ฅ ๐š๐œ๐ญ๐ข๐ฏ๐ข๐ญ๐ข๐ž๐ฌ included: included: CRAAP method presentation and group news verification; Opinions vs. facts session; Myths, superstitions, and disinformation workshop; Masquerade role-play game; AI in critical thinking session; Cognitive biases and fallacies workshop; Creation of online posts on disinformation; Community activity development in teams; Evening presentations and feedback sessions

โœ”๏ธ Collected information about the national situation on critical thinking from the eight participating countries.
โœ”๏ธ Five online news items verified using the CRAAP method.
โœ”๏ธ Ten online myths debunked, including explanations of how they gained traction online (myth + the real part + sources).
โœ”๏ธ Four online campaigns addressing online myths and disinformation.
โœ”๏ธ Critical thinking activities designed for the eight European countries represented at the training course.
