Scroll Check Youth Exchange

Between 14 and 23 February 2026, Vatra Dornei, Romania, became a meeting point for young people from Romania, Poland, Spain, Greece, Italy and the Czech Republic. Brought together through the Erasmus+ youth exchange “Scroll Check”, participants shared a common goal: to become more aware and better prepared to navigate disinformation in the AI-driven digital era.

Throughout the project, participants explored different forms of misleading information, including misinformation, disinformation and malinformation, while examining the ways in which manipulation can influence opinions, decisions and online behaviour.

Project Objectives

The project aimed to:

  • Equip 30 young people and 6 youth leaders with essential skills in critical thinking, media literacy and responsible online behaviour.
  • Introduce creative non-formal learning tools for the responsible use of social media and artificial intelligence.
  • Strengthen the capacity of 6 partner organisations in media literacy and critical thinking.

Learning Methodology

The exchange combined non-formal education, teamwork and creative learning activities, giving participants the opportunity to engage with:

  • Real news analysis and manipulation techniques
  • Debates and simulations exploring different perspectives
  • Practical tools for verifying information and recognising AI-generated content
  • Discussions on online safety, privacy and responsible digital behaviour
  • Storytelling and Human Library activities exploring the impact of misinformation

Main Project Outcomes

The project resulted in several resources created by and for young people, including:

  • 6 Digital Guides designed to help young people understand and identify the risks associated with the malicious use of AI across different information formats and contexts.
  • 5 youth-friendly awareness videos addressing deepfakes, misinformation, AI ethics and other challenges of the digital era.

Beyond the Learning Activities

The project also offered participants the opportunity to discover Vatra Dornei and its local community. A ride with the Mocănița and an engaging discussion with the local mayor added a cultural and community dimension to the exchange, creating memories and connections that went beyond the training room.

“Scroll Check” brought together learning, creativity and intercultural exchange, providing participants with practical competences and new perspectives on navigating today’s complex digital environment.
